We wrote back in August about the extension of our Blue Box pilot scheme that was seeing our Blue Boxes available for a one-year trial period, completely free of charge. This was all made possible thanks to funding from Innovate UK – as they continue to support organisations providing much needed help for health and care services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The aim of our pilot is to provide care home staff with the tools they need to carry out better assessments and make crucial decisions.
At such a challenging time for care homes, as they deliver essential care to some of the most vulnerable members of society, we want to do everything we can to enable them to deliver the highest level of support possible.
Since our last post, we’ve had an overwhelming response and are now fully subscribed. The scheme will see three AHSNs supporting 14 CCGs across the UK by giving them access to Blue Box kits – enhancing the care for over 3,000 care home residents.
A huge thanks to our AHSN and NHS Trust partners. Without their cooperation and help, this scheme wouldn’t have been possible.
It says a huge amount about their commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of their care homes residents. They include:
· Eastern AHSN
· Kent, Surrey & Sussex AHSN
· UCLPartners
· NHS Western Isles
Our Blue Boxes have been sent out to almost all of our participants and we’ve been delighted to hear that some have already been deployed and making an immediate difference. We
’re so excited to see the impact they’ll make over the course of the scheme.
